I had to take a little break from IG the last coup I had to take a little break from IG the last couple of weeks due to an unexpected death in my family. 😢
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My sweet grandma passed away after a fall that resulted in a broken hip.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She made it through surgery, but she was unable to make it through the necessary recovery.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was not allowed to visit her until she was moved to a hospice facility because of current hospital restrictions.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fortunately, I was able to spend most of the day by her bedside the day before she passed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I will forever be grateful for that time. ❤️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sitting next to my grandma at the end of her 88 years had me thinking...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What is going to matter to you when you are taking your last breath?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your career or your family...
Your clout or your faith...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Who is going to be sitting there by your side during those final moments?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your colleagues or your husband and children and grandchildren...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Young women are not taught to consider these things when choosing what path they will take with their lives, but it is perhaps the most important thing to consider.
Never discuss politics or religion, they said...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's easy to bury your head in the sand. I know because I did it for a long time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes the injustices that take place in our country and in our world on a day-to-day basis are too much to bear.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes it's easier to turn a blind eye than to argue with the people that you love over topics that have become so divisive.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, at some point, you have to decide whether or not you will stand up for the things you hold dear.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The last few weeks have highlighted why freedom is so important.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Freedom is not free. It is fought for... and not only by those in the military.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is fought for by people like you and me who are willing to take a stand against injustice and give a voice to the voiceless.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hundreds of thousands of babies aborted by mothers who feel they have no other option...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Millions of women and children sold into slavery by human traffickers...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
People treated differently and sometimes killed by others because of the color of their skin...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
An increase in anxiety, depression, and suicide as a result of government overreach...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, where do we go from here?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We can start by paying attention.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A wise president once said that freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We shouldn't take it for granted.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Should Christians participate in politics or stand up against tyranny?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My answer: YES!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Christians are called to love one another as Christ has loved us.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It won't be easy and people will try to silence you, but...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If we don't speak out against injustice and give a voice to the voiceless, who will?
To love is to serve. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ M To love is to serve.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Men are programmed to serve the woman they love - they love to take care of their wife's needs.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Women, on the other hand, have been specifically groomed never to serve a man.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The feminist worldview is antithetical to love because its focus is solely on women: their needs, their wants, their desires, and their rights.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Love can't possibly be sustained with an attitude like that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Serving your husband has nothing to do with being a man's slave.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That's just fear talking.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you want to turn things around in your marriage, serve until it hurts.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Serve until it feels like you're serving too much.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And then serve some more.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Excerpts taken from The Alpha Female's Guide to Men and Marriage by @suzannevenkerauthor - quite possibly the best marriage book I've ever read.
I lost some followers last week.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I talked about some hard truths, and sometimes the truth stings a little.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some of you may remember that I vowed to do things differently in 2020.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My first priority was to get.back.in.the.word.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In doing so, I felt compelled to pray for boldness and to begin exposing some of the lies the world tells us as women.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lies I fell for because they sound really lovely.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's not always easy, and at times it can be heavy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A few times last week I found myself asking God if this is truly necessary.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My uneasiness subsides with every positive message I receive.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every like, comment, and share tells me that women need and want to hear these things.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And even though I lost some followers, three times as many new faces joined this community last week. 🤗
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am grateful for each and every one of you - old and new.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am still a work in progress, but I love walking alongside you on this journey.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have three questions for you:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣ Are you married?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2️⃣ Are you mom? If so, how many kids?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3️⃣ If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ll drop my answers in the comments. You can do the same. 👇🏼
Women are not taught how powerful their influence Women are not taught how powerful their influence can be through the Biblical act of submission.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Unfortunately, many selfish people have abused this concept, leading women to lack the trust it takes to do this without reluctance.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
*If you are in an abusive relationship, please seek help.*
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Allowing my husband the opportunity to lead gives him an overwhelming sense of pride in the role he fills for our family.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This drives him to serve me in such a higher capacity than when I was fighting to have my own sense of authority.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Does this mean I don't have a voice?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Absolutely not!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because we have an open line of communication, we are typically on the same page.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When there is a disagreement, however, or there is something I am unsure about, I know I can count on him to be a sound voice of logic and reason.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He carries the weight of making the ultimate decision and always has our family's best interests in mind.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious." 1 Peter 3:4
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Does the idea of submitting to your husband's leadership make you cringe a little or have you had a positive experience like mine?
Agree or disagree? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thi Agree or disagree?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This quote is from an opinion article I read the other day, written by @suzannevenkerauthor - author and relationship coach.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In it, she discusses why she feels there are so few strong, grounded, purposeful men in our country today.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
More than anything else, she says, it has to do with a lack of fatherly leadership and too much mothering.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"For all intents and purposes, a mother's job with her son is over by the time he's around 11 years of age. At that point, the boy's father becomes critical. It's in the second half of a boy's life when he learns what it means to be a man. He will fail to learn this if his father is absent or when his mother doesn't let go of the reins."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She addresses all sorts of questions in the article. If you want to read the whole thing, let me know and I'll send you the link.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I've been out of the dating game for quite some time, so my question for you is this:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Is it tough to find a good man these days?
