Do you set goals that you struggle to achieve? Don’t worry, you’re not the only one.
Goal setting seems easy, but it can be quite overwhelming until you find a method that works.
I’m excited to share a tool I found recently that will show you how to set clearly defined goals that you can actually accomplish.
When I was given the opportunity to review the Slay Your Goals Planner by Nadalie Bardo, I jumped at the chance.
Nadalie is a fellow blogger who runs the website It’s All You Boo.
We have a lot in common as she loves to write about goal setting, time management, and personal development.
I love everything Nadalie produces, and the Slay Your Goals Planner is no exception.
This planner is…
- Not dated, so you can use it at any time.
- Extremely detailed with more than 60 pages of goal-setting goodness.
- A digital download that you can either print or fill in on your computer.
- Beautifully designed with motivational quotes included throughout.
- A step-by-step guide that walks you through both planning and executing your goals.
How to set clearly defined goals that you can actually accomplish
According to Nadalie, there are six crucial steps you need to take to achieve your goals.
The Slay Your Goals Planner walks you through each step in explicit detail.
1 // Set your intention
An intention is less about what and how, and more about who and why. Everything you do will keep you focused on attaining this one thing.
It’s GREATER than your goal. You might even consider it your mantra.
Chapter one will help you discover your intention by asking important questions that will encourage you to evaluate different areas of your life as well as considering what you want out of life.
2 // Choose your number one goal
Many times the goals we set are so broad that we’re not sure how to break them down into small, manageable steps.
We also have a tendency to set so many goals that we become overwhelmed and don’t know where to start.
I love the idea of choosing one goal because it allows you to narrow your focus and gives you the freedom to put all of your energy into accomplishing this one thing.
Chapter two helps you evaluate the intention you set in the previous chapter in such great detail that you can turn it into one main goal.
3 // Set mini goals
Chapter three will help you break your number one goal down even further so that you have something specific to accomplish each quarter.
I am a big fan of taking the time every few months to evaluate where I am with my goals and decide if I need to make any changes.
This takes it a step further by encouraging you to set your action items ahead of time.
I love that I can see an overview of what needs to be done, so I don’t get sidetracked.
This process promotes a proactive approach rather than a reactive one.
4 // Plan your year
This is where you begin to map out how and when you accomplish the goals that you set.
This chapter includes strategic planning pages for each quarter as well as calendar pages where you can map out what steps you need to take month by month.
If you’re anything like me, you like to see what needs to happen written out on paper.
Having an overview to look at keeps me on track.
I would definitely print this part out and stick it in a binder that you can look at any time and refer back to over and over again.
5 // Crush your to-do’s
Accomplishing your goals is not a set it and forget it process. You have to show up day after day, month after month, and do the work.
The Slay Your Goals Planner gives you a flowchart to help you determine what action steps you need to add to your to-do list.
Also included are monthly planning sheets in multiple formats as well as worksheets that will help you prioritize your to-do’s.
This planner really is an organizer’s dream!
6 // Review your goals
Last, but certainly not least, in order to accomplish your goals you have to constantly review where you are in the process, so you can adapt and change course if necessary.
It also helps to remind yourself how far you’ve come, so you continue to stay motivated.
The last chapter of the Slay Your Goals Planner includes a place to track what you’ve accomplished along the way, plus several worksheets that walk you through how to evaluate your monthly and yearly progress.
Now, it’s your turn
I hope you can see how in-depth this goal planner is, and how it can benefit you in your goal-setting process.
This planner would be especially useful to those of you who have a dream living deep down inside of your heart that you’re not quite sure how to make happen with everything else you have going on in your life.
Accomplishing goals requires focus. Yes, you have to show up to do the work, but first, you have to have a roadmap that will help you get there.
The Slay Your Goals Planner is that roadmap.
