Routines are crucial in keeping life organized as a busy mom.
There are several types of routines you can implement to keep things running smoothly.
I would argue that your morning routine is THE most important.
How you start your day determines how the rest of your day will go, or at least how you will face your day.
There is something about starting your day on a positive note that sets you up for success by keeping your attitude in check.
If you begin your day the right way, you should feel refreshed, recharged, and ready to face anything that comes your way.
A morning routine doesn’t guarantee that everything will happen as you planned.
What it does do, though, is give you the resolve you need to stay positive and focused even when things don’t happen as you expected or hoped.

Morning Routine Checklist + FREE Printable Workbook
I think a lot of people understand the value of a good morning routine, but the thought of waking up early seems intimidating.
This keeps you from actually implementing what you learn, which causes you to miss out on all of the great benefits!
I’m going to make this as simple as possible for you by including my morning routine checklist below, plus a special challenge at the end.

Morning routine checklist
Now for the good stuff. Below are my tips and tricks for a successful morning routine.
Follow the steps in this morning routine checklist for the best results:
1 // Keep it simple
Your morning routine does not have to be complicated, especially when you’re first starting out. Pick one habit you want to create, then build from there.
The easier it is to implement your morning routine, the more likely it is that you’ll stick with it. Once you’ve stayed consistent for a couple of weeks, add something new if you like.
2 // Start with something you love
If you’re going to start waking up early, you have to choose a morning routine that makes you want to get out of bed.
You are less likely to drag yourself out of your cozy, comfy bed for something you hate. Start with something you love instead.
3 // Focus on your top priority
I am a big proponent of knowing your priorities and planning your days accordingly. Your priorities should guide how you spend your time.
If you’re not sure what your priorities are, take some time to sort that out.
Once you are certain of your top priority, use the morning hours to focus on it before the day gets away from you.
4 // Plan ahead
Create your morning routine ahead of time, so you’re not wandering around aimlessly trying to figure out what to do.
This is where my free morning routine workbook comes in handy. It will walk you through the process of setting up a morning routine that works for you.
5 // Start the night before
As I said before, the easier it is to implement your morning routine, the more likely it is that you’ll stick with it.
Do what you can the night before to eliminate unnecessary roadblocks. Pack your gym back, set the timer on the coffee pot, create a cozy reading nook…
Remove any excuse you can think of to stay in bed once the alarm goes off.
6 // Go to bed on time
This one is crucial. You have to make your best effort to get enough sleep if you’re going to wake up earlier.
You will still go through an adjustment period of getting your body used to the change, but you need to change your bedtime to accommodate your wake-up time.
7 // Skip the snooze button
The snooze button actually messes with your sleep cycle and makes you more tired. Don’t believe me? Google it.
If you have an addiction to your snooze button, try putting your alarm across the room so you have to physically get out of bed to turn it off.
8 // Be consistent
Give yourself a solid two weeks to get into a good routine. By the end of those two weeks, you will be accustomed to your new habit.
At this point, you can decide if you need to adjust anything or make any changes. Take note of what’s working and what’s not and improve as necessary.
